Emerging Tech-Personal Project Prompt

On Thursday you will be responsible for presenting a detailed plan for incorporating one of the five technologies we have discussed during the workshop into either your teaching or other work processes. For example, you can describe how you will work blogging into a specific course or how you might use wikis for a specific assignment.

You will be responsible for presenting this information in three ways:

  • Blog Posting
  • Wiki Page
  • 5 minute Presentation


You will want to include the following types of information:

  • Lesson/Assignment/Project Objective/s
  • Discussion of how/why you think the technology will better facilitate the objective (Consider discussing the “problem” you’ve had with the lesson/assignment/project in the past and how the technology might solve it.)
  • Detailed Plan of Lesson/Assignment/Project
  • Example of Assignment Prompt/Project
  • Assessment Strategy

I got a lot out of our first session. I'm thinking about how I might use blogging. One of the challenges for librarians is that we often meet with a class for only one class period. I'm thinking a blog might provide a great avenue for keeping up with students after the initial session in the library.

I believe that a vast majority of our higher education practices are going to move towards hybrid practices (like we are doing right now). So thinking about how these technologies can easily facilitate this process is a great idea.
